A public round table was held under the title: "Intellectual Property and the Sustainable Development Goals: Building our common future with innovation and creativity."

On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day, celebrated in 2024 with the theme "Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Goals: Building our common future with innovation and creativity", the SIPO organised a public round table on Friday, April 26, "Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Goals development: building our common future with innovation and creativity”.

At the beginning, the participants were greeted by the Director General of the Office, Ljiljana Kuterovac, MSc, and Ivo Milatić, delegate of the President of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. The introductory presentation on the topic "The role of intellectual property in the implementation of sustainable development goals" was held by the Director General of the Office, in which she emphasised the connection and interdependence of sustainable development goals and the importance and influence of intellectual property and technological progress on their fulfilment. Likewise, human creativity, ideas and innovation enable solutions and achieve better results in solving common global challenges in fighting hunger, poverty, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving health, promoting equality and sustainable development.

After the introductory presentation, a panel discussion was held, entitled "Inventions, innovations and initiatives in the field of sustainable development in Croatia". The debate was moderated by Ms. Tanja Milović from the Office, and the guests were Ms. Lidija Pavić-Rogošić, Director of the Association ODRAZ-Sustainable Community Development, Prof. Vedran Bilas, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Associate Professor Jelena Matančević, PhD, Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, Department of Social Policy, and Maks Udov, BSc in forestry, technical director at the company of Herbafarm Magnolija d.o.o.
