The Operation of the Office and the Introduction of the Euro as the Official Currency in the Republic of Croatia
From January 1, 2023, the official currency of the Republic of Croatia changes from the kuna to the euro, and the Republic of Croatia becomes a member of the euro area.
Considering this fact, and in accordance with the provisions of the Act on the Introduction of the Euro as the Official Currency in the Republic of Croatia ("Official Gazette" No. 57/22 and 88/22), the Office adjusted its operation.
We draw the attention of parties in proceedings before the Office and users of professional services to the fact that starting from September 5, 2022 until December 31, 2023, the Office will dually state the amounts of payment obligations in administrative and other individual acts, in kuna and euros, and information related to prescribed fees for procedures for the grant of rights and professional services of the Office are already presented dually on the Office’s website.
The general rules related to the introduction of the euro in the Republic of Croatia shall apply to the currency of payment of dually declared payment obligations to the Office.
Please note that only for the reason of the currency change, a new Regulation on the Fees for Procedures in the Field of Intellectual Property and Professional Services of the State Intellectual Property Office will not be adopted, but the valid Regulation adopted in 2021 will remain in force until further notice ("Official Gazette" No. 119/ 21) with the application of a fixed conversion rate of HRK 7.53450 for EUR 1. Parallel amounts of fees prescribed by the Regulation expressed in kuna and euros are available at the link.
